Post book contributions as Forum Topics, not Blogs!

Hey there Team Bell members,

please paste any book contributions in the Forums. These are split up by chapters, so that once you choose the appropriate chapter, your work is automatically categorized. This makes it SO much easier to move ahead in editing the book!!!

Blogs are there so you can post more personal or chatty messages.

If you've posted your book contributions in your blog, please open a new tab, call up this website again, and create a new forum, pasting your previous blog material into the forum. Once you've created and saved that forum, erase the old blog.

What's next?

Dear Team Bell,

we had a really good meeting on Monday, July 20.

Following the brainstorming session at the first meeting (in June), your ideas were categorized by where they might fit into the book, as follows:

*******************************************************************************************************

Chapter 1: Welcome to College
- Expectations of college- met or not
- Adjusting to new environment- school city, physical/natural environment
- Learn campus services
- Safety/Awareness/Naiveté
- Top 10 things to do before you get out of college (by year)

Outside the Lecture Halls

Chapter 3; page 66; Goes best after first paragraph that ends with "hobbies."
---------------
Like most college students, I find getting to know a professor a task. It's not easy. There is a haunting fear of rejection. This fear peaked my freshmen year when I approached one of my professors and lost all words to speak. Due to my intense nervousness, I stuttered my speech as my face turned hot and firey red. I was unfortunately too slow in action and he quickly wrapped up the conversation.

These are links that I mentioned in my entry "Building a Community of Heroes" in the "Directing Your Own Development" chapter (http://www.teambell2009.info/?q=node/193):

Building a Community of Heroes

CHAPTER 16 (Directing Your Own Development), PAGE 240, INSERT THIS ENTRY AFTER THE SECTION "How to Make Changes in Yourself" (because that chapter discussed the power of the group versus the individual, and volunteerism can be strongly motivated by group experiences in volunteering, as the UCLA Volunteer Day demonstrated)

NOTES:
While this is an extended re-edit of some previous writing I had done, I wrote the majority of it just now...at like, one o'clock in the morning. I submit to the reality that I am probably batty as shit right now. Please fix any grammatical errors and do any editing that needs to happen if this is to be published. I'll glance at it again in the morning.
